Former World No 1 Greg Norman has undergone surgery on his left shoulder and doesn't expect to return to the game of golf until late July.
The Australian had arthroscopic superior labral, capsular and partial rotator cuff repairs in a procedure at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, it was claimed by Sky Sports on Tuesday

"It's unlucky that I have to undergo a second operation to my left shoulder, but for more than six months now, I've known that such a procedure would be required," said Norman, 56.

"I'm hopeful that with aggressive treatment I may be able to play towards the end of July, nevertheless obviously we may realize a lot more in the coming weeks."

Norman, a two-time Open winner, earlier had left shoulder surgery in 1998 and a good shoulder operation 18 months ago.

"Today's surgery on Greg's left shoulder had little to do with his previous procedure in 1998. Today's procedure had more to do with Greg's torn labrum," said his surgeon James Bradley.

"Knowing Greg's commitment to rehabilitation, we are confident he would make a speedy and full recovery."

Norman, nicknamed "The Shark", would serve as International team captain at the Presidents Cup in November in his native Australia.

Yani Tseng shot a closing 68 to win the ANZ RACV Ladies Masters at RACV Royal Pines Resort and can be predicted to claim the world No. 1 ranking from Korean Jiyai Shin while the rankings are released on Monday.
Tseng, 22, who has played the Ladies Masters on Queensland's Gold Coast ever since she was a 16-year-old novice, produced rounds of 67, 66, 63 and 68 against par of 72 to finish at 24 under par, four shots clear of Australia's Nikki Campbell and American Stacy Lewis.

Tseng's success comes on the heels of her win at the ISPS HANDA Women's Australian Open at Commonwealth GC in Melbourne last week, a double accomplished only by Karrie Webb in 2007.
